HABITAT (2025) is a piece for clarinet, violin, percussion, grand piano and a small loudspeaker (placed inside the piano), written for the Polish ensemble Kwartludium. During workshop sessions in Gdańsk and Warsaw, the musicians were invited to interact with the soundworld of a field recording; a world that is non-musical, yet so musical, a space of faint scratches, flutters and buzzes – a habitat.
HABITAT is dedicated to the White-backed woodpecker, one of many critically endangered species that has specific habitat requirements. These habitats are rare in today’s managed forest landscape.
Durata: 9’00”
