Wavering wood, whirling metal (2009)
for harp, percussion and two prepared music boxes

The various sounds of wood and metal was the inspiration for composing this piece. The melodies looped throughout the piece has a scent of deformed lullabies. The melodies can be heard in the harp, in the percussion and in the two deconstructed music boxes.

Wavering wood, whirling metal is dedicated to Duo Harpverk.

Wavering wood, whirling metal (2009) is a piece for harp, percussion and two prepared music boxes. It was composed for Icelandic Duo Harpverk (Katie Buckley, harp and Frank Aarnink, percussion) in 2009. The various sounds of wood and metal was the inspiration for composing this piece. The melodies looped throughout the piece has a scent of deformed lullabies.

The Australian ensemble The Griffyn Ensemble performed the piece on tour in Melbourne, Bendigo, Albury and Canberra in 2013. Part of the concert was Australian artist Annika Romeyns drawing ”My response to Wavering wood, whirling metal by Jenny Hettne”.
