Reed, undulating (“Vass, böljande”) was written during my last year of my masters in composition, 2008. Reed, undulating is the result of my determination to transform the basic material from my oboe solo, Reed, chanting – its multiphonics – into a new sound world.

(“Vass, böljande”)
for clarinet, piano, violin and cello
Slowly undulating, floating with certain inertia … I imagined myself a sort of underwater music, a feeling which etched in my mind during the work of Reed, chanting, for oboe and electronics. Reed, undulating is the result of my determination to transform the basic material from the oboe piece – its multiphonics – into a new sound world. Each of the four instruments have been dedicated one part of the piece in which the sound and idiomatic possibilities of each instrument constitute the basic material.
